    Genworth Begins telling some Workers their Jobs will be Cut

    RICHMOND, Va. – Insurance giant Genworth Financial has started notifying some of its workers that their jobs are being cut after its planned merger with a China-based investment firm was delayed. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports a spokeswoman for Genworth  confirmed on Wednesday that the company is starting to notify employees of job reductions. The company didn’t say how many workers would be eliminated, or when the cuts would occur. Genworth has thousand of employees in Virginia, mainly in the Richmond and Lynchburg areas.     UArizona opens vaccination site, focusing on education workers

    TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The University of Arizona is home to a new vaccination site in Pima County Tuesday, with 1,000 teachers already scheduled to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The drive-up vaccination center will be located on University Avenue South, between Campbell and Cherry Avenues, and will focus on a specific subpopulation of Phase 1B of the county’s vaccination plan — Education and child care providers.     When COVID-19 pushed grocery stores onto the “front line” of the war against the pandemic, Albertsons, the nation’s second-largest supermarket chain, sought to have their employees designated as “essential workers.” CEO Vivek Sankaran teamed up with the United Food and Commercial Workers union in the spring to call for added protections for grocery workers.
