Online coding school Treehouse, formerly based in Portland, lays off most of its staff

Treehouse, which launched in Portland a decade ago in an ambitious effort to teach software development online, plans to lay off most of its staff by the end of the month. CEO Ryan Carson didn’t answer emailed questions about the cutbacks, but said in a brief reply Tuesday that “we are going to continue to serve our students and customers.” Carson, who moved to Connecticut last month, said Treehouse is no longer based in Portland and that its remaining staff now works remotely. In an announcement sent last week over the company’s internal Slack messaging channel, later viewed by The Oregonian/OregonLive, Treehouse notified employees that their jobs and benefits would…

She said 900 students are still awaiting them. “I heard loud and clearly from our community and our parents,” she said. “They are not happy with the services the SPED department has given over the years.” The district would not give the exact number of employees affected. There have been three executive directors in six…

Some may qualify earlier under different criterias, like those with high risk conditions or those who received a placebo during a vaccine trial.  CU spokesperson Jennifer McDuffie said in a press conference last month the university, which will receive vaccine doses from the state, is also unsure of when they will be allowed to vaccinate workers.  “We are still waiting on guidance around educators from the state,” McDuffie said. “At CU, we do believe…
