    NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has reported a rise in school threats, receiving seven in the last week alone.     School board approves purchase of online program, SRO vehicles | Local News

    The Glynn County Board of Education approved the use of federal funds to purchase a formative assessment program that will enhance Google Classroom technology. The school board voted 6-0 at its monthly meeting Tuesday to buy a Pear Deck program. The district will spend $133,650 over three years using money provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act. The board also approved the purchase of 12 new vehicles for the district’s resources officers. Board members approved the $436,404 purchase 5-1, with school board member Mike Hulsey voting no.     Centner Academy has asked parents to keep their children home for 30 days if their child has received a Covid-19 vaccine dose, according to a letter sent to parents and obtained by CNN affiliate WSVN. The letter cites false and disproved claims about the impact of the inoculation. The school had previously made unsubstantiated claims about adverse reactions non-vaccinated people could have by “interacting with people who have been vaccinated” that have not been identified in or supported by research by the Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health or World Health Organization.     Heyworth school district returns to online learning after spike in COVID-19 cases

    HEYWORTH (Heart of Illinois ABC) — Heyworth students are learning online this week because of a COVID-19 outbreak in the school district. Superintendent Lisa Taylor said 17 students and four staff members tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week.     Video circulating online shows classroom assault at Oscar Smith High School; police investigating

    CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A teacher’s assistant was assaulted by a student in a classroom Tuesday at Oscar Smith High School and WAVY News 10 has obtained video that shows the incident. In a voice message to families Tuesday, Oscar Smith Principal Paul Joseph said first responders reported to OSHS earlier in the day for a “medical emergency involving the assault of a staff member.” The principal said students have been circulating a video of the incident online. 10 On Your Side tracked down that video and received permission to use it in our coverage.
