Centner Academy: Florida education agency to investigate Miami private school over Covid vaccine policy

Centner Academy has asked parents to keep their children home for 30 days if their child has received a Covid-19 vaccine dose, according to a letter sent to parents and obtained by CNN affiliate WSVN. The letter cites false and disproved claims about the impact of the inoculation. The school had previously made unsubstantiated claims about adverse reactions non-vaccinated people could have by “interacting with people who have been vaccinated” that have not been identified in or supported by research by the Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health or World Health Organization. All four agencies, backed by extensive research, have confirmed that vaccines are…

Public and private school teachers choose to homeschool own children

Amanda Hoerschelman used to teach 75 children a day. As a 5th-grade public school teacher in Texas and Georgia, she had a revolving door of 10- and 11-year-olds. She loved teaching and her students but knew they weren’t getting the one-on-one attention they needed. Still, when Hoerschelman had her eldest daughter Ava, she didn’t think twice about sending her to a brick and mortar. That all changed when the family moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, with their 5-day-old daughter Autumn in tow. The plan was Hoerschelman would go back to teaching, but the family ran into trouble finding daycare so she decided to stay home and give her daughters the individualized…

Burned out millennials quitting their jobs eye ‘private money flowing around’

The New York Times Biden’s Proposals Aim to Give Sturdier Support to the Middle Class Perhaps the most striking difference between the middle class of 50 years ago and the middle class today is a loss of confidence — the confidence that you were doing better than your parents and that your children would do better than you. President Joe Biden’s multitrillion-dollar suite of economic proposals is aiming to both reinforce and rebuild an American middle class that feels it has been standing on shifting ground. And it comes with an explicit message that the private sector alone cannot deliver on that dream and that the government has a central…

UW-Madison chancellor apologizes for keeping COVID-19 discussions private | Higher education

“I would be delighted to share information,” Blank wrote in an email chain to Big Ten chancellors and presidents. “(B)ut perhaps we can do this through the Big 10 portal, which will assure confidentiality?” Bill Lueders, president of the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council, criticized Blank on Monday for encouraging secret discussions on a topic he said is clearly in the public’s interest. “It’s clearly illegal for her to use this backdoor channel to conduct the public’s business,” he said. “The calculation with which Chancellor Blank has tried to evade the requirements of our open records law is deeply troubling. I think she’s embarrassed the university and state of Wisconsin.”…

Private sector added 174k jobs in January: ADP

U.S. businesses added 174,000 jobs in January, rebounding from the first monthly decline in hiring since last April, according data released Wednesday by payroll processor ADP. Non-farm private sector payrolls added more workers than economists had expected to kick off 2021, following a revised decline of 78,000 in December, according to ADP’s National Employment Report. “The labor market continues its slow recovery amid COVID-19 headwinds,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute, in a statement. ADP’s employment summary is released two days before the Labor Department’s monthly jobs report, but is not meant to be a preview of the official federal data. Economists broadly expect…

ADP report shows private companies added 174,000 jobs in January, beating expectations

EmployBridge chief workforce analyst Joanie Courtney weighs in on the December jobs report amid surging coronavirus cases. U.S. private employers resumed hiring in January amid signs that new COVID-19 cases are falling and state governments are lifting lockdown measures implemented to curb the spread of the virus, according to the ADP National Employment Report released Wednesday. The report showed that companies added 174,000 jobs last month, topping the 49,000-job increase that economists surveyed by Refinitiv had predicted. The increase followed a decline of the upwardly revised 78,000 in December, the first time that employment shrank since the early days of the pandemic. “The labor market continues its slow recovery amid COVID-19 headwinds,” Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head…

The gain beat the 50,000 estimate from economists surveyed by Dow Jones and improved on the 78,000 December decline, a number that was revised from the initially reported drop of 123,000. “The labor market continues its slow recovery amid COVID-19 headwinds,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP…
