    LAUSD online school deadline is Friday. How to sign up

    The Los Angeles Unified School District is preparing to fully reopen campuses for in-person classes on Aug. 16. For parents who do not want to send their child back to campus, an online option is available through the district’s independent study program. Students will be automatically enrolled for in-person class at their school unless they register for independent study by Friday, Aug. 6. Online schooling in LAUSD this school year will be different from the remote learning that began when campuses shut down in March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.     Dearborn Public Schools Online Virtual School Deadline Coming Up

    DEARBORN, MI — A June 8 deadline has been set for Dearborn Public Schools students transferring to the district’s virtual K-12 school. The virtual K-12 school will offer students an online-only education for the next school year and for the years to come as long as there is enough interest to maintain the school, the district said. The district said that, barring any unforeseen changes, it plans to start the new school year in August with all of our students back to face-to-face learning for full days.     More states seek federal waivers from standardized tests as Biden extends deadline for requests

    This is the second straight year that states are asking for waivers. In 2020, Betsy DeVos, the education secretary in the Trump administration, told all states they did not have to administer the tests after schools were abruptly closed when the pandemic hit. She said last year, however, that if she remained education secretary, she wouldn’t give the waivers again.
