    How many jobs did the US economy create in June?

    Job growth in the US came in much higher than expected in June, with the economy adding 850,000 jobs last month, which was significantly higher than the 583,000 jobs added in May and 269,000 in April. Last month’s jobs gain was the biggest since August 2020, when employers added 1.6 million jobs.     Midwest Fastener to create 90 jobs with expansions

    PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A bolt and screw manufacturer is expanding its facilities in Portage and Decatur, expecting to create 90 jobs. Midwest Fastener Corp. will sink $10.8 million into adding to its headquarters in Portage and distribution center in Decatur. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. is giving the company a $500,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant to support the expansion, according to a Tuesday release from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office. The city of Portage is also giving the company a 50% tax abatement.     Northern Kentucky University was awarded a federal grant to help businesses and entrepreneurs to accelerate economic growth and create jobs throughout the region. The $750,000 federal grant from the Economic Development Administration’s Scaling Pandemic Resilience Through Innovation and Technology Challenge will go to the NKU Collaborative for Economic Engagement.     Adams 12 Five Star Schools is developing a plan for remote learning during the 2021-21 school year and beyond. The learning model that the district boosted during the COVID-19 pandemic will take on a new life in future years as a standalone entity, district staff explained to the board of education at an April 21 meeting. The merit of remote learning extends beyond adaptability to a pandemic and can offer some families much-preferred flexibility.
