    Roger Dixon considered a $16-an-hour job last week at a food snack factory in Akron. “It was enough for me to come down and see what’s going on,” Dixon said while reviewing his job offer Wednesday at Great Work! Employment Services on East Market Street in Akron. The 33-year-old machinist said the regional staffing agency always finds him good-paying jobs. But he’s never earned $16 an hour in his life.     First students return to Akron Public School buildings for Remote Plus

    Clutching an iPad, Journee Blackmon climbed out of the van, not quite avoiding the puddle of melting snow between the edge of the van and the curb.  With a little coaxing from educational assistant Terry Lilley, she slowly walked up the sidewalk and through the doors at Rimer CLC.  But the third-grader, who is on the autism spectrum and doesn’t speak, wasn’t so sure about going up the stairs.
