175 jobs available at new downtown Greenville hotel

The AC Hotel in downtown Greenville is almost ready to open its doors. The hotel is hoping to bring new jobs and more business to the Camperdown area.The hotel is looking to fill 175 positions ranging from management to hospitality. The hotel held a hiring event Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., looking to fill these jobs.After 2020 pummeled the hospitality industry nationwide, hotel managers hope this opening will give the city a reboot.“This is a community hotel and we want to give it back to the community, and be able to open our doors and get people out and about,” AC Hotel Greenville General Manager John Deck said. “2020 was challenging year and 2021, we want to look at it as a growing year for our industry.”The AC Hotel is comprised of 196 hotels rooms, event space and seven food and drink outlets. Deck says he hopes the hotel can be anchor of Camperdown, and draw both tourists and locals.Deck says they’re also hoping to bring events and concerts to the courtyard space that sits between the hotel and several other businesses and complexes.Deck says the hotel has dining options from pizza, to tapas, to burgers, plus a rooftop bar, gin tasting room, secret cocktail bar and speakeasy. “2020 was very depressing for the industry,” Deck said. “We lost a lot of great individuals within our company and within our industry, so as I mentioned, 2021 is really going to be a positive year.”Deck hopes to start 2021 on a positive note, and give back to the community in some way.He says their hiring event will continue over the next few days.The finishing touches inside the hotel are underway. Deck says they hope to open in the spring, starting with the hotel and followed by the bars.
